Storytime Coffee Co. is more than just a place to get great coffee—it’s a front door to our church and a gathering space for our community. We’re looking for a passionate, hospitality-minded manager to lead our café, serve our guests with excellence, and help create a warm, welcoming environment for everyone who walks through the doors.

As the Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day shop operations, mentor a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, and help craft strategies that allow Storytime to support local ministries and community partners. Storytime Coffee Co. is a ministry and missional non-profit business of Story Church. The Manager is a key ministry leader of the church and is expected to be active as a “Covenant Partner” (member) of Story Church. Storytime Coffee is determined to become a common place for the people of Rogersville, MO; a place where people can come and escape the daily stresses of life. A comfortable place to meet friends, family or clients, read a good book, and of course, enjoy a great cup of coffee.

Position Overview

This full-time position is approximately 35% administrative and 65% behind the bar. The Manager oversees daily operations, supervises employees and volunteers, maintains product and service quality, and helps ensure the business operates efficiently and sustainably.

Your Impact:

Cultivate Hospitality: Ensure every guest experiences genuine care, excellence, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Lead & Mentor: Support, train, and encourage café staff and volunteers with a servant’s heart.

Run the Shop: Manage daily café rhythms—from coffee bar setup, menu items, and merchandise to inventory, scheduling, and ordering.

Serve the Community: Support café products and hospitality for church events, special gatherings, and outreach initiatives.

Build for Sustainability: Keep the café financially healthy and growing by managing day-to-day sales, POS reporting, and creative ideas for customer engagement.

Compensation & Role Details:

Hours: Core Leadership Position (30+ hours per week)

Pay Rate: $16.00 – $17.50 / hour (commensurate with experience)
Estimated Annual Base: ~$23,400 – $25,740 / year

Schedule Advantage: Enjoy consistent, predictable weekly hours designed around church and café rhythms—offering a healthy work-life balance without the late-night closes or chaotic 50+ hour schedules typical of corporate retail management.

Physical Rhythms:

Physical rhythms include standard coffee shop activity such as standing for extended periods during shifts, walking frequently, and light lifting/moving up to 20–30 lbs.

Job Description

Long-term planning to create initiatives that further the cafe’s overall goals.

Coordinate teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning opportunities.

Inspire and motivate employees/volunteers to perform at their best through positive encouragement.

Enable employees/volunteers pour God’s love into the community

Identify potential problems and points of friction and working to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency and revenue.

Identify opportunities to expand or shift course in order to take advantage of changes in the market.

Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe.

Hire and onboard new baristas and Story Church Volunteers.

Hire, onboard and train employees/volunteers on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment.

Create a weekly shift schedule of employees/volunteers.

Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses.

Manage cash drawer as well as depositing cash and checks to the bank.

Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences.

Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and deliver excellent customer service.

Pastor of Worship (Part-Time, 8-12 hours)

WORSHIP PASTOR OBJECTIVE:

To lead the people of Story Church in Biblical, Christ-centered worship. We have 2 weekly gatherings, Sunday at 9 and 10:45 AM. We are a simple church, with a simple schedule and a simple vision. Our church life does not revolve around our building or our worship gatherings, but around our vision and mission. When we GATHER, it is to celebrate who God is and what He has done when we SCATTER.

Maintain a balance of work, home and ministry life. Ministry requires suffering on the part of the shepherd, but never at the expense of losing your family.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Weekly Meeting with Pastor (attend Staff Meeting if primary work schedule allows)
Attend and participate in yearly Leadership Retreat
Attend and help organize special ministry events such as 1st Friday, Night of Worship, etc.
Build and Lead the Story Worship Team to understand their role as worship leaders.
Build relationships with musicians and their families
Develop and implement yearly growth plans for Story Worship with an emphasis on Spiritual and Musical Development.
Plan meetings, training and events that help facilitate these goals without overburdening the church schedule.
Lead worship by singing/playing an instrument while equipping and enabling others on the team to do the same.
Lead and train team members through practice and preparation.
Speak the Word of God effectively, pray and encourage the church during worship gatherings.
Lead the church to be worshippers that Know, Live and Tell the Love Story of Jesus.
Work with the A/V Team to look after the sound and video quality of the physical and online worship gatherings.
